30 years of success in Promotion and PR

Since its establishment in 1996, Mais Inc. has been consistently developing contents and promoting numerous companies for foreigners visiting or living in Japan and for Japanese people traveling abroad.

So far, we have developed and provided useful information for foreign residents living in Japan in order for them to understand Japanese culture and its language, multilingual information for sightseeing, and an useful conversation book in case of sudden illness in several languages.

Over recent years, we have also written useful information about earthquakes, typhoons, and other natural disasters, as well as information on how to prevent them, and helped foreign residents to stay safe.

We also have experience in translating English, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Korean, Tagalog, Portuguese, and other languages, and successfully undertook public relations and promotional activities for both overseas and Japan’s corporations. Our network of contacts with numerous domestic and international companies, foreign communities in Japan, travel agencies, hotels, etc., is our asset and the foundation of the services we provide. “Mais” means ‘more’ or ‘further’ in Portuguese. Like our company’s name, we hope for more convenient and effective services in order to become an even more useful company to you.

Our history

1996

Foundation of Mais Co,. Ltd.
Publication of “Dr. Passport”, a booklet for translating medical conversations in case of illness or injury in different languages. (13 languages. Contents also included in some electronic dictionaries)

Since 1997

Engaged in the production of multilingual advertisements, edition and production of promotion’s tools for foreigners living in Japan. Analysis of foreign community and development of network for promotion.
Publication of “Overseas Medical Conditions” and “Overseas Safety Passport” for Japanese travelers living abroad.

From 2002

Start of a new business, providing information to tourists. Creation of multilingual maps, magazines, and booklet for tourists visiting Japan. We helped major airline companies, credit card companies, and other services oriented companies for foreign visitors to Japan targeting efficiently their potential customers.

Since 2007

“Dr. Passport” translation content is provided to electronic dictionary manufacturers (2 companies) even nowadays.

Since 2008

Start of publishing “Expat’s Guide to Japan,” a lifestyle information magazine for foreigners living or studying in Japan.
Distributed in many places like embassies, international schools, and international companies in Japan.

2008-2010

Invited to participate in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s “International Medical Tourism Demonstration Project” as a member of the consortium of host institutions.

2009-2011

Participated in the “Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s “International Medical Tourism Demonstration Project. Since then, we have been a member of “Medical Excellence JAPAN”, a general incorporated association aiming for the internationalization of medical care.

Since 2011

Creation of “Expat’s Guide to Japan” web version and its Facebook page. Gaining access from Japan and all over the world.

2013-2016

The “Dr. Passport” app business received a “business feasibility evaluation” from the Tokyo Metropolitan Small and Medium Enterprise Support Center.
Also, with two grants from the Tokyo Metropolitan Small and Medium Enterprise Support Center, we released a “multilingual symptom communication” application for medical institutions and commercial facilities and we could improve our application.

2013-2016

We have been commissioned by the Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau (TCC) to manage their Facebook page in four languages.

2016-2019

We have been commissioned by Taito ward to manage their social management online for overseas visitors.

Since 2016

We released the “Dr. Passport” application and began providing it on an OEM basis. We also developed a tablet version of the application for facilities accepting foreign residents.

We, then, received an excellence award from Tokyo Metropolitan Government in 2016.

2017

We obtained two patents for the “Dr. Passport” application.

Since 2018

Dr. Passport’s content is provided to property insurance companies, general associations, and cell phone companies.

With the collaboration of a major credit card company and local shopping districts, we helped shops interacting with foreign tourists and explaining them how to react in case of emergencies.
We had the same approach regarding a major private accommodation company and the community residents on crime prevention and how to react in case of emergency.
We provided emergency action guidelines in English to the Tokyo Tsunagari Creation Foundation, and many more.
